Summary

Elias Emerson has worked hard and become a successful businessman。 Fellow businesswoman Catherine Hutchison has been with him, helping him, all his adult life, but he’s never really paid attention to her。 She's just there。

Never noticed how much she did for him behind the scenes。 How much she lifted him up and made him better。 How much she sacrificed to give him the support and encouragement he needed。

Until she announces that she’s quitting her job and moving away from Prairie Rose。

Catherine Hutchison has spent almost two decades working with Elias。 She’s done everything she can for him to help him become successful, never thinking he would pay her back or return any favors, just because she believed in him and wanted to see him do well and was in a position to help。

Maybe she had a crush on him at one time, but he’d never returned her feelings and they’d remained friends。

Now, she’s facing the test of her life and needs to move closer to family。

Except Elias has a perfect solution she’d never considered。

Can two friends become more with the help of a crazy family and a Christmas miracle?

Heartland Romance is a different twist on the friends to lovers story that has the reader looking at what makes a real relationship, and in the best of them how we can become complacent and forget to show how much we value the other person。 Elias and Catherine are characters that are easy to relate to and their story is a reminder it’s never too late for love。

Elias and Catherine had been best friends and worked together all their lives。 But Catherines needs more, a family, kids, someone to share her dreams。 Can Elias realise they are meant to be together or will he let she leave town forever? A great story

Elias and Catherine have been friends for years as well as work together。 She has always wanted more but was afraid。 Will leaving town cause him to finally see what is right in front of him? I liked how it took time apart and some introspection for these two to move past friendship。 Really liked the ending。 The author always makes feel like I am right there with the characters。

Great Christian SeriesAnother great book in a great series。 I enjoy all of Jessie Gussman's books。 I can always count on a great Christian read that makes me think。 Catherine and Elias were best friends for years and it took some big changes to help them figure out what they had。 A really great read that I read straight through。 Great Christian SeriesAnother great book in a great series。 I enjoy all of Jessie Gussman's books。 I can always count on a great Christian read that makes me think。 Catherine and Elias were best friends for years and it took some big changes to help them figure out what they had。 A really great read that I read straight through。 。。。more

Elias and Catherine have been good friends for years - or have they? Though Catherine appreciates it, she can't help feeling it's really pretty one-sided。 Finally, after years of hoping for more, Catherine decides to leave Prairie Rose in the hope of finding a husband elsewhere。 But the knowledge that Catherine is leaving, and still more the knowledge of why, makes Elias realise how much he depends on her - and cares for her。 As he begins to realise how little he's shown his friendship and that Elias and Catherine have been good friends for years - or have they? Though Catherine appreciates it, she can't help feeling it's really pretty one-sided。 Finally, after years of hoping for more, Catherine decides to leave Prairie Rose in the hope of finding a husband elsewhere。 But the knowledge that Catherine is leaving, and still more the knowledge of why, makes Elias realise how much he depends on her - and cares for her。 As he begins to realise how little he's shown his friendship and that perhaps he actually wants more, it's time for him to either let her go or step up to the plate and show himself worthy of her。The relationship between Elias and Catherine has come up a bit in the two previous books, so I was curious to see what would make Elias realise what a good thing he had going - and as usual, the author didn't disappoint。 No magic change in the drop of a hat, but a recognition of a problem and a character who's willing to work to get to where they need to be。 In fact, thinking back on it makes me realise that I'm not always much good at that myself, sadly - so it's a good reminder, as well as a good story! Looking forward to the next book, though each story is a standalone romance。 Recommended。Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author。 I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book。 。。。more

Allow a very long afternoon for this charming, family-friendly, friends-to-lovers romance set mostly in Prairie Rose, Iowa, starting in late October and finishing before Christmas。 I had an ARC through BookFunnel and this voluntary review is my own opinion。

Elias did not realize what he had until it was gone。  He and Catherine worked together and helped each other out until she decided to sell her business, move away, and help her Aunt Lenore after her hip replacement surgery。  It was funny to see how Elias reacted to the news and realized he had taken advantage of Catherine, hurt her feelings, and that she was more than just a business partner and friend。I really enjoyed Elias' awkward moments because it was so true to his character。  He seemed so Elias did not realize what he had until it was gone。  He and Catherine worked together and helped each other out until she decided to sell her business, move away, and help her Aunt Lenore after her hip replacement surgery。  It was funny to see how Elias reacted to the news and realized he had taken advantage of Catherine, hurt her feelings, and that she was more than just a business partner and friend。I really enjoyed Elias' awkward moments because it was so true to his character。  He seemed so lost and beside himself after Catherine left。  I really enjoyed their emails back and forth to each other and how Elias changed and how he tried to win Catherine back。  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review。  。。。more

Elias and Catherine have been friends forever。 Elias takes that for granted and Catherine has never spoken up for herself。 These two are so good together and so good for each other if they could only communicate what they each need and hear each other。

This is an interesting romance。 Elias and Catherine have gone to school together, worked together and entered into each other's families。 But there hasn't been any romance。 Catherine is tired of waiting to find a husband and start a family。 After she decides to sell her company, which feeds clients into Elias' company, he realizes what he's lost and he realizes that he wants the same thing that Catherine does。This book contains a lot of dialog about people recognizing what others do for them and This is an interesting romance。 Elias and Catherine have gone to school together, worked together and entered into each other's families。 But there hasn't been any romance。 Catherine is tired of waiting to find a husband and start a family。 After she decides to sell her company, which feeds clients into Elias' company, he realizes what he's lost and he realizes that he wants the same thing that Catherine does。This book contains a lot of dialog about people recognizing what others do for them and what they mean in each other's lives。 Not one of my favorites, but it does point out a lot of differences between men and women and how they behave together, no matter what type of relationship they have。I received an advance reader copy from the author。 This is my honest review。 。。。more

Once again, Jessie has given her readers a story with fascinating characters with very relatable traits, worries and problems。 Elias and Catherine have been friends for years and spend most days working together now too。 Both have become aware that something is missing from their lives。 While he can’t quite understand what is missing, she knows exactly what is missing from her life and has become determined to find it。 Of course instead of talking to the man who is her best friend and revealing Once again, Jessie has given her readers a story with fascinating characters with very relatable traits, worries and problems。 Elias and Catherine have been friends for years and spend most days working together now too。 Both have become aware that something is missing from their lives。 While he can’t quite understand what is missing, she knows exactly what is missing from her life and has become determined to find it。 Of course instead of talking to the man who is her best friend and revealing her true feelings, Catherine decides distance and a new life away from him are just what she needs。 Elias finally grasps what is missing from his life when Catherine announces that she is selling her part of the business and moving away to care for elderly relatives and perhaps find someone who is interested in marriage and a family with her。 Now that he knows that he wants, perhaps even needs, to be the man who marries Catherine and builds a family with her, Elias must convince her to give him another chance。 But first he must figure out why Catherine doesn’t see him as a viable candidate for marriage。 Their story is no different than that of many couples, who have become complacent in their relationships, take each other for granted, or fail to make an effort to make the other person feel seen and heard。 For Catherine, feeling invisible is particularly painful as even her own family have made her feel that way。 Elias must prove to her that he can change, that he wants to change, and that he sees and hears her now。 Catherine must learn to speak up and not simply stand back and accept what is happening。 They both have work to do in order to build a future together。I found this book to be insightful and inspiring。 I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review。 。。。more

Enjoyed Catherine and Elias story。 Catherine had loved Elias forever, did everything she could for him, but never got past best friend status。 Elias had always had Catherine to count on no matter what and was shocked when she decided to sell her business and leave town。 He found out he had overlooked the most important person in his life, and decided he had to make things right with her。 I sighed, fussed, and cheered these two as the story progressed。 If you like clean second chance stories with Enjoyed Catherine and Elias story。 Catherine had loved Elias forever, did everything she could for him, but never got past best friend status。 Elias had always had Catherine to count on no matter what and was shocked when she decided to sell her business and leave town。 He found out he had overlooked the most important person in his life, and decided he had to make things right with her。 I sighed, fussed, and cheered these two as the story progressed。 If you like clean second chance stories with a twist, you will enjoy 'Heartland Romance'。 I received this book from the publisher。 The thoughts and comments are my own。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book by Jessie Gussman。 It is about friends falling in love。 Catherine and Elias have been friends since childhood and worked in business together until Catherine sold her part of the business and moved away。 That was all it took to wake Elias up and realize that she was more than a friend and be wanted to marry her。 I highly recommend this book as a clean romance。 I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review。

I really enjoyed Elias and Catherine’s story! This was a very interesting premise and it was moving to watch them work through the issues having been friends for so long。 Another great installment to this series!

This unique story is about friends/coworkers that have been best friends since grade school。 They own their own businesses and work together in the same office。 Everything is about to change for them。 Will distance and change bring the friends back together or maybe start a new chapter in their lives?

Elias and Catherine are best friends and work together at his repair/farm equipment store。 According to the women in the area he was: “Too unemotional。 Too analytical。 Too literal。 Too driven。 Too involved in his work。”Catherine has always had feelings for Elias but she’s just a friend, his best friend, to Elias。 She decides it’s time to move along with her life。*I received this book for free for my unbiased review。

This was a cute story of friends to more。 But it really makes you think about how different people see the same circumstance in a totally different way。 How people get comfortable and take others for granted。 It's not overly Christmasy if that's not your thing, it basically is the setting, not what the whole book is centered around。 I did like how the author sprinkled in hints of who the next books are going to be about This was a cute story of friends to more。 But it really makes you think about how different people see the same circumstance in a totally different way。 How people get comfortable and take others for granted。 It's not overly Christmasy if that's not your thing, it basically is the setting, not what the whole book is centered around。 I did like how the author sprinkled in hints of who the next books are going to be about 。。。more

This book really gave me pause to think about how I treat others。 Am I grateful? Do I just expect what they do for me? How do I treat those in my life? Do I really even know them? I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 Really enjoying this series。 Jessie has given me somethings to definitely think about, some things to change immediately @ how I relate not just to my husband, but to all the people in my life。 And lastly Jessie has given some things to pray about in regards to how I handle my myself out in the world。 Such a great book, everyone can benefit from reading。 Definitely recommend。

This newest book by this outstanding author is loaded from beginning to end。 The reader is taken on a journey with a couple that have known each other all of their lives and have also worked together in their own businesses for the last 15 years。 What will happen when Catherine decides to sell her business and leave town to help her aunt after surgery。 A very touching and empathetic story that will leave you thinking about your own relationships and your role in them。 Another extremely good book This newest book by this outstanding author is loaded from beginning to end。 The reader is taken on a journey with a couple that have known each other all of their lives and have also worked together in their own businesses for the last 15 years。 What will happen when Catherine decides to sell her business and leave town to help her aunt after surgery。 A very touching and empathetic story that will leave you thinking about your own relationships and your role in them。 Another extremely good book by Jessie Gussman that I would highly recommend。I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review with my own personal opinions。 。。。more

This sweet story is about good friends who understand the meaning of honor, loyalty and trustworthiness。 But due to circumstances, neither Catherine nor Elias had perfected their ability to effectively communicate with each other。 The steps Catherine chose to make changes were hard, but good。 I was won over by Elias, who had to learn to see from a different perspective, and tried so hard to reach out to his best friend。 The use of a ferris wheel was sheer genius as a setting for a turning point This sweet story is about good friends who understand the meaning of honor, loyalty and trustworthiness。 But due to circumstances, neither Catherine nor Elias had perfected their ability to effectively communicate with each other。 The steps Catherine chose to make changes were hard, but good。 I was won over by Elias, who had to learn to see from a different perspective, and tried so hard to reach out to his best friend。 The use of a ferris wheel was sheer genius as a setting for a turning point in the storyline。 The author wove several humorous threads throughout, and all was written with a strong foundation of family and godly values as both the main characters were determined to work to reach their personal best。 The story had me captivated from the first page and I couldn't put it down, so I read it all in one sitting。 。。。more

This story just hits the nail on the head, sometimes we take the ones that mean the most for granted。 We know they will always be there when push comes to shove。 It is a reminder that we all need from time to time, especially me。 In the story Elias has taken Catherine for granted for “years”。 They have known each other since childhood, gone to school together and even work together。 Is that all they will have in the future?

This story is an example of "you don't know what you've got until it's gone。"Elias wasn't a bad guy。 He was just too busy dealing with the broken things that he didn't pay too much attention to things that were going right。。。 like his friendship and business relationship with Catherine。 She's always there。 They work well together。 Their businesses help each other。 She never said there was a problem。。。 until she announced she was selling her business and moving away。。。The character were well done This story is an example of "you don't know what you've got until it's gone。"Elias wasn't a bad guy。 He was just too busy dealing with the broken things that he didn't pay too much attention to things that were going right。。。 like his friendship and business relationship with Catherine。 She's always there。 They work well together。 Their businesses help each other。 She never said there was a problem。。。 until she announced she was selling her business and moving away。。。The character were well done。 Their personalities weren't described; we were shown what they were like。 The story was a bit humorous and a bit serious, but completely satisfying。 。。。more

Jessie does it again。 What a great story。 Elias is oblivious to how he relates to people, especially Catherine。 Catherine is a strong woman who knows what she wants。 Very inspirational story that shows kindness and not meanness when confronting someone about their behavior。 I really loved it and highly recommend it。I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review。

Misunderstandings。 They cause fractures in relationships as does taking others for granted。 Catherine and Elias needed to open better communication and resolve their differences to continue having any kind of relationship at all。 Lovely story of really hearing both the other person and God with believable, likeable characters。Received ARC and this is my honest review。

Taken for granted…Catherine and Elias were best friends。 They grew up together, went to school together, worked side-by-side in their companies, and supported each other through thick and thin。 The problem was that Catherine wanted more and was tired of waiting for something in return that was never going to come。 If she wanted a husband and a family, she was going to have to find it outside of Prairie Rose and she was ready to take that step。 Elias was blindsided by Catherine’s decision。 She ha Taken for granted…Catherine and Elias were best friends。 They grew up together, went to school together, worked side-by-side in their companies, and supported each other through thick and thin。 The problem was that Catherine wanted more and was tired of waiting for something in return that was never going to come。 If she wanted a husband and a family, she was going to have to find it outside of Prairie Rose and she was ready to take that step。 Elias was blindsided by Catherine’s decision。 She had always been by his side; always loyal, always patient, always present。 He thought she was as satisfied with the status-quo as he was。 What was he going to do now? This story resonated with me。 It is easy to become too comfortable with our friendships and relationships and let them slowly wither away。 Important people and relationships need emotional feeding and care。 This is a clean romance with a powerful message。 It’s a little different from Jessie Gussmans regular romances but I liked it。 。。。more
